prevent Xwindow from blanking
sudo nano /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
In that file, look for:
[SeatDefault]
and insert this line:
xserver-command=X -s 0 dpms
(I’ve only experienced Xwindow blanking with The Raspberry Pi Foundation 7 inch Display.)

add lcd_rotate=2 to the last line

Install Kodi in Raspbian
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install kodi

I have yet to try OpenHab or The Thin client projects.
They both sound promising to me.
As far as I can tell OpenHab functions as an automation layer to your internet of things.
